Here are some bold predictions for the 2008 NFL season.

Brady Quinn will be the Browns' starting quarterback by the end of the year. That's right; I'm just not buying what Derek Anderson is selling. I think he had a fluke year in 2007. He's prone to making mistakes and I think it'll be turnovers that force a change. Quinn has the potential to be a quality NFL starter, but he needs the chance to play first.

Brodie Croyle will show that he's the answer at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. When I hear most people talk about the Chiefs' offense, I keep hearing that they have no passing game. I'm a fan of Croyle, have been since his collegiate days. Look for him and Dwayne Bowe to develop a nice rapport.

Rashard Mendenhall will be the best running back of the rookie class. He may not get as many carries as Darren McFadden or Jonathan Stewart, but I believe he'll get enough carries to show himself as the beast he is. This kid runs harder than anyone I've ever seen and just looks to punish defenders. He'll get a lot of work insides the 20, but Willie Parker will steal away much of his thunder. He could score double digit touchdowns. Statistics aside, I think he'll look like the most impressive runner of his class. This guy has the running style to sell NFL tickets in the Steel City.

Maurice Jones-Drew will show himself to be a full-time starter and excel in the role. This is the year I think Fred Taylor is going down with an injury again. If that's true, or even if Taylor finally shows his age, MoJo will get the opportunity to show what he can do. Forget that he looks like a 10-year-old with huge thighs running around out there; he's powerful enough to carry the load. His versatility as a receiver and his quality blocking ability make him a complete back and he'll establish himself as an elite player this season. They don't call him Pocket Hercules for nothing.

Frank Gore will be the first running back to thrive in Mike Martz's offensive system since Marshall Faulk. Gore is the perfect fit for Martz's pass-happy scheme. He's a great receiver, perhaps the best one the team, and makes the most of the carries he does receive. Martz knows Gore is the only elite playmaker he has and will use him constantly in both the running as passing games.

Ricky Williams will return to being a very good running back. I know that by saying that you probably think I've just spent some time with Ricky in his VW Bus eating Doritos and chatting about the colors in the rainbow, but I'm serious. With Ronnie Brown coming off of a serious injury, Williams is going to get a lot of carries. He doesn't have much mileage on his tires and he was, at one time, the best running back in the league. I'm not saying he's going to rush for 1853 yards, as he did in 2002, but he's going to remind some people of why he was such an icon.
